I began, using watercolors, painting the desert around Tucson, where I grew up.  I made colored chalk copies of the woodblock style posters that my Dad brought home from Post-war Japan.

I completed an MFA degree at U. of CA, Santa Barbara, and worked as Curator of Art at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum and taught art as an adjunct faculty member in the Art Dept at Oxnard College for 31 years in CA.  I exhibited paintings in galleries and summer art fairs on the West Coast. I painted wherever I was, especially in the Pacific North West.

Today I am on the lookout for color, irony, drama - and I find it everywhere.  I work in water media.  The immediacy of acrylic and transparent watercolor appeals to me, especially in landscape painting.  In 2019, I moved to Great Bridge, Virginia to be close to my son's family... and to paint!
