 Betty Haslett

After retiring to Chesapeake, Virginia in 2006, Betty joined a paint group and learned to watercolor.  She took painting instruction the first few years, then enrolled at Tidewater Community College in Portsmouth for the past four years.  There, she has completed Watercolor I & II and Drawing I, II, & III.  This has helped to improve her skills.  She joined Southside Artist Association in summer of 2013, and also belongs to Chesapeake Bay Watercolorists and attends Paint4Fun through Cheapeake Parks & Recreation.  Betty loves seeing how water and paint take over and work their magic.  She prefers waterpainting but is learning to work with Pen & Ink, and the use of  masa paper and collages in her current class.  She enjoys painting barns, old buildings, water scenes and landscapes.  She has had her paintings shown at various libraries, KROC center, Wells Fargo, Cape Henry Collegiate School, Portlock Center, Norfolk Botannical Gardens, and Lighthouse Point. She loves to paint and says that this a great way to relax and get out and meet new friends.
