Barbara began painting in the “70’s.  She started with oils and acrylic but soon realized watercolor was her medium of choice.  She painted without any benefit of training until she moved to Dallas, Pennsylvania and studied with artist Sue Hand for 10 years.  Over the years she has exhibited, won awards, and sold many of her paintings.  Until Barbara retired in March of 2013 from a career in banking she mainly painted as a pastime.  Since retirement she joined Southside Artist Association and Paint 4 Fun and is furthering her experience through continuing education with TCC’s art program.  Her involvement with art groups and artist friends has enriched her life and has become a new passion. Barbara is a native of Taylorsville, NC but has lived in many states all over the United States and is currently a resident of Chesapeake, VA.  She is a proud mother of two grown sons and a grandmother of seven.
